It also does away with the commander which is frankly fairly easy for veteran players and too critical for new players to jump into. They can level up and learn onos right away instead of playing a regular game, waiting 20 minutes to go onos and dying a minute after they finally get to use the onos. Here players can learn how each lifeform and weapon work. I think moving forward, the only way the franchise is to exist is to make the game more or less like combat in its multiplayer mode. People don't like having to memorize a dozen or so names of different rooms in a confusing ass map. People don't like being killed as they spawn from some godlike aimer.
People don't like dying from enemies that are hard to aim at in 2 bites. People have a hard time aiming at dog sized enemies that can leap, cloak or walk on walls. I don't see how this can be done any better or worse with a NS3.īut the reality is what I and others enjoy about NS2 is not sustainable. We have a tech tree system that's fairly easy. We have very difficult combat that rewards you for accuracy and situational awareness. Overwatch has 15 million players.Īs a competitive player, we got what we wanted in NS2. NS2 fluctuates between 200-300 players or so. While I do appreciate the depth of NS2, there's no doubt that the health of the game is in question and new blood rarely trickles in. Possibly, but it would have to be different and appeal more to casual players.
